Parish registers listing baptisms from 1976, marriages from 1990 and burials from 1953 are retained by the church. If you want to enquire about an entry in the baptism or marriage registers, please contact one of the churchwardens.

You can download our alphabetical list of burials since August 1953 here.

You can download and view burials by location in the cemetery here.

Please note that this list is under review for updating.

All previous registers, dating since 1570, have been deposited with the Hertfordshire Archive and Library Service (HALS) at :

Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies

Register Office Block
County Hall
Hertford
Hertfordshire
SG13 8EJ

To see what is available, the catalogue can be viewed by visiting the HALS website.

You should then use this tab: Browse the list of parish registers

Then browse the list of parishes on the PDF file, scrolling down to Datchworth (DP/33).
The archive is open to visitors (Times are given on the website) and the entries in the registers can be viewed there in person on microfilm.
If you are unable to visit the archive, you can contact them following the guide on the ‘Parish registers: Baptism, Marriages and Burials’ page under ‘Order a search or a document’ to request a search, for which a fee is chargeable (Details are on the website).
The majority of Hertfordshire’s parish registers (up to early 1900s) are now available on findmypast.co.uk which you can use for free at any Hertfordshire library.
