The Women’s Institute is a National Organisation which celebrated its centenary in 2015.  The Datchworth branch was formed in 1927. 2022 is therefore, our 95th Anniversary which we will be celebrating with cake and wine at our AGM on 10th May.  It is a very friendly WI.  Our current membership is around 40  and we welcome new members.  Anyone in the village is welcome to come along as a visitor for at least 2 meetings before deciding to become a full member.

If anyone thinking of joining our WI would like to participate in any of the meetings,  please contact Shirley Ashby on peteandshirl1@talktalk.net .

PLEASE READ ON FOR UPDATE ON OUR ACTIVITIES
Monthly Meetings are normally held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.30 pm in Datchworth Village Hall where we enjoy talks and demonstrations from our visiting speakers. Visitors are always welcome.

Our meeting on Tues 9th August – was our Garden meeting where we meet in the garden of one of our members for afternoon tea.  This year we invited representatives from the Stevenage Fire Service to give us a short talk and presented them with 53 trauma teddies knitted by our members.  3 Firefighters attended and gave us a very interesting insight into the diverse proficiencies that are required in their role.
