Village Hall & Bookings

Datchworth Village Hall is a key community building, a focal point of village life that brings a range of services for local people under one roof. The hall is situated in rural surroundings on the edge of Datchworth Green with views over open countryside. It benefits from a bar, kitchen and a large car park.

It is popular for family celebrations and plays host 7 days a week to a wide range of clubs and classes, frequently hosting village social events.

There are three rooms available to hire for private or business use, which can be booked separately or together. The main function room, with an elevated stage, can accommodate up to 250 people (120 seated for meals).

  • Tiddlywinks, a parent/carer and toddler group
  • Women’s Institute

Datchworth Pre-School forms part of the Village Hall and a Post Office runs from the premises twice a week.

Our charitable objective is very much focused on recreation and leisure time occupation to improve the life of our parish residents.

The Hall

The hall is fully heated by a warm-air system. It is the responsibility of the hirer to apply for a bar licence when required. Intercommunication to the Small Hall is through two sets of double doors.  There are shutters to the kitchen, providing a large serving hatch.  The elevated stage (with curtains) is furnished with stage lighting, available for use on request.  There are about 180 chairs and 25 tables.

The Small Hall has a licensed capacity of 60 people.  In addition to a bar it has access to the kitchen through a shuttered serving hatch. The spacious kitchen is equipped with two large sinks, a catering sized cooker with oven, refrigerator, and microwave. There are cups, saucers, plates and cutlery for about 100 people.  There is also a small ‘committee room’ for private meetings.
